Welcome to Markets Desk, your midday read on what's moving markets and the minds behind them.
Amazon shares pulled back after a mixed third-quarter report, but CEO Andy Jassy used the moment to plant a flag. He told Wall Street that Amazon may operate two businesses each generating one trillion dollars in annual revenue within the next five to ten years. No company has ever crossed that threshold, and Jassy is saying they might clear it twice.
Shifting to the AI workspace, Asana CEO Dan Rogers says he has handed significant portions of his daily workflow over to artificial intelligence agents, letting them manage his inbox, monitor company performance, and track competitors. Rogers noted that workplace agents carry an edge over consumer tools because they are trained on institutional knowledge, though he cautioned that detailed instructions are essential to extracting real value from them.
On the semiconductor side, data center spending is projected to surge to one point four trillion dollars by two thousand twenty seven, and that rising tide is lifting chipmaking equipment suppliers. Applied Materials sits squarely in that current, with its wafer fabrication tools increasingly in demand as hyperscalers race to build out capacity for artificial intelligence workloads.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
