Good morning and welcome to Markets Desk, your Friday close and weekend outlook.
In the grain pits, wheat finished the session lower across all three markets, with Chicago soft red winter contracts shedding as much as twenty-one and a half cents on the week. Kansas City hard red winter was similarly soft in the front months, reflecting broader pressure on the complex as demand signals remain cautious heading into the weekend.
Soybeans told a more complicated story, with contracts finishing mixed — some fractionally higher, others slightly lower — but the weekly and monthly damage is hard to ignore. November beans shed thirty-four and a quarter cents on the week and nearly seventy-one cents on the month, while the national average cash price held just above eleven dollars and sixty-three cents.
Turning to private markets, OpenAI has trimmed its fundraising ambitions, now targeting roughly twenty billion dollars at a valuation of one point two five trillion. That is down from an earlier target of thirty billion, and the pullback signals that even the most prominent names in artificial intelligence are not immune to investor fatigue and mounting anxieties around tech valuations at this stage of the cycle.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
