You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
The World Series is officially a series. Tampa Bay's Nick Fortes crossed home plate in the bottom of the twelfth inning at Tropicana Field, scoring on Ben Williamson's high-bouncing single to right to give the Rays a four-to-three walk-off win over Milwaukee in Game Four. The Brewers had a sweep in their sights, but Tampa had other plans.
Before that dramatic finish, it was Aaron Ashby putting together history on the mound. The Brewers reliever threw a one-two-three ninth inning, breaking Andrew Miller's record for scoreless innings by a reliever in a single postseason. The record is his, even if the win wasn't.
Shifting to the ice, New York Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer made history Tuesday night by becoming the first skater on record to stay on the ice for all five minutes of an overtime period. Not a single shift change. The whole thing, start to finish, on his skates. It's the kind of endurance and trust from coaching that you simply don't see, and now there's a record to prove it.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
