Welcome to The Light, where we pause together in the quiet between the noise.
In the hills of California, something is stirring among the young. Gateway Seminary, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, has reported record enrollment this fall. Students are arriving hungry, their instructors say, for something ancient and grounding — for the Word itself. There is something worth sitting with in that.
And hunger of a different kind surfaces in a question many quietly carry: can a follower of Jesus also build wealth? A recent reflection in Relevant Magazine does not say no — but it asks the harder thing first. Define enough. Because the guilt that arrives alongside the first generous paycheck is not simply neurosis. It is conscience doing its work, asking us to be honest about what we are building, and for whom.
From the intimate to the immense — NASA is now studying a dark patch on the lunar surface that may open into a vast underground cave. Scientists believe it could one day shelter human life on the moon. We have always looked upward when the earth felt too small, or too broken. Perhaps that instinct is itself a kind of prayer.
That is this hour's reflection. Carry the light gently.
