Welcome to Markets Desk, your midday read on what's moving markets and why.
Palantir heads into earnings with a target on its back. Wall Street is expecting roughly two point one eight billion dollars in revenue for the third quarter, an eighty-four percent year-over-year jump, and forty-one cents per share. The problem is Palantir's own guidance trails that bar, meaning the company must beat its own forecast and then some just to satisfy the room.
Shifting to sovereign credit, Moody's held France's rating steady at Aa-three, offering Paris a measure of relief after a turbulent week of political unrest and rising yields on French government debt. The decision signals Moody's still sees the country's fundamentals as sound, even as markets have been repricing French risk with some urgency. It buys the government time, but the pressure is far from gone.
And in the AI space, Anthropic's rumored November IPO is looking increasingly uncertain. Filing deadlines are tightening, and at least one portfolio manager is now saying the company could reasonably choose to stay private and wait for a cleaner window. With market conditions still choppy, the clock is working against them.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
