Welcome to The Light, your quiet hour of reflection.
In Jordan, a country long regarded as a sanctuary of interfaith peace, suspected Islamic extremists opened fire at a Greek Orthodox church during a funeral, killing at least seven and wounding twenty-eight others. The violence arrives as a sobering reminder that sacred grief is not always sheltered from the world's darkness.
Closer to home, a quieter but persistent question resurfaces around the legacy of Elisabeth Elliot, one of evangelical Christianity's most beloved figures. Christianity Today's editor has defended republishing an article exploring the possibility that Elliot may have been bisexual, a decision that has stirred both reflection and resistance across communities who hold her memory dear.
And in a piece worth sitting with, a ChurchLeaders essay asks Christians to examine whether political conviction has quietly become something closer to worship. When a party or leader commands the kind of loyalty once reserved for the sacred, the soul, the essay suggests, may have traded one altar for another without ever noticing.
That is this hour's reflection. Carry the light gently.
