Sad news out of the hockey world tonight — former NHL All-Star Ron Duguay has passed away at the age of sixty nine after a battle with cancer. Duguay spent nearly a thousand games in the league from the late seventies through the eighties, a beloved figure whose impact on the game stretched well beyond the ice.
Shifting to Pittsburgh, Penguins forward Ben Kindel is back home and recovering after suffering a medical emergency aboard the team's flight back from Utah earlier this week. GM Kyle Dubas addressed the situation Thursday morning, and the team has placed Kindel on injured reserve. No further details on his condition have been released, but the focus right now is simply on his health and recovery.
And in the NFL, C.J. Gardner-Johnson is going to miss some time whether he likes it or not. The Bills safety appealed his one-game suspension for spitting at Raiders players during Sunday's game, and hearing officer Jordy Nelson let that suspension stand. No wiggle room, no second chance — Gardner-Johnson sits.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
