Buffalo is getting a brand new home opener to remember. The Bills will christen Highmark Stadium in Week Two on Thursday Night Football, September seventeenth, against the Detroit Lions. Prime Video carries the game, and it's a marquee matchup to break in what promises to be one of the NFL's premier venues.
Speaking of the Lions, a last-place finish in the NFC North last season hasn't cooled the demand for Detroit in primetime. The Lions played five primetime games a year ago and they're right back on the big stage to open the Bills' new building. Detroit travels to Buffalo for what should be a genuine statement game early in the season.
On a somber note, the football world lost a legend. Craig Morton, the Denver Broncos' first Super Bowl quarterback and a member of their Ring of Fame, passed away at eighty-three years old. Morton played in two Super Bowls across his career, first with Dallas and then with Denver, leaving behind a legacy that shaped the early identity of that franchise.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
