The Indianapolis Colts are in full restructuring mode after owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon pulled the trigger on GM Chris Ballard Monday, ending a tenure that never quite delivered the playoff consistency this franchise craved. The move raises real questions about whether head coach Shane Steichen survives the overhaul, and how aggressive Indianapolis gets before the trade deadline.
Meanwhile in the NFL at large, three teams are still standing without a loss heading into week seven — the Chiefs, the forty-niners, and the Vikings, who continue to be the league's most pleasant surprise. The Cowboys sit at the opposite end of the conversation, looking like the worst team in football, and the Eagles have dropped four straight, making this a genuinely unsettled NFC landscape.
And shifting to hardwood, LeBron James opens his record twenty-fourth NBA season tonight at Madison Square Garden — only this time wearing a Philadelphia sevens uniform. His agent Rich Paul confirmed James would have chosen New York in free agency, had the Knicks not already claimed their first championship since nineteen seventy-three last season. The torch passed, the king visits the castle.
