Welcome to Markets Desk, here's what's moving the tape this Friday.
Corn futures closed out the session with contracts down one to four and a half cents across the board, with December leading the slide at five and a half cents lower. Speculative longs continue their exit as we hit the midpoint of October, pushing the CmdtyView national cash corn average down nearly four cents to four dollars and thirty-five cents a bushel.
Soybeans followed corn into the weekend, with front-month contracts slipping one and three-quarters to three cents in the red, though deferred contracts managed modest gains. November beans are now down more than thirty cents on the week, a notable move as export buying continues to provide some underlying support without enough force to reverse the trend.
Turning to private markets, Berkshire Hathaway has written a second check to Bending Spoons, a Milan-based app company, this time to the tune of three hundred thirty million dollars. The firm, which started with a failed AI diary app back in two thousand ten, has grown into a significant mobile software operator, and landing a repeat investment from Warren Buffett signals serious confidence in its long-term trajectory.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
