Good evening, this is Markets Desk with your briefing on the stories moving the conversation tonight.
Microsoft is claiming a significant edge in the AI arms race. CEO of Microsoft AI Mustafa Suleiman told employees internally that the company's new MAI-Base-two model outperforms a comparable OpenAI offering while using just a quarter of the computing power, a claim that speaks directly to the economics of scaling artificial intelligence.
Shifting to currency markets, the dollar index fell to a one-week low Thursday, shedding nearly half a percent as ten-year Treasury yields slipped to a three-week low of just over five percent. Dovish signals from the San Francisco Fed added pressure, narrowing the interest rate differentials that had been propping up the greenback.
And in fintech, two AI-native financial platforms are making their debuts simultaneously. Swedish personal finance startup Matters emerged from stealth with a five million dollar pre-seed round, while payments platform Movere, backed by banking and fintech veterans, launched targeting business clients. Both bets reflect continued conviction that AI can reshape financial infrastructure from the ground up.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
