X has removed more than thirteen thousand accounts tied to suspected foreign influence campaigns ahead of the US midterms. The platform linked the networks to Iran, Russia, and China, saying they used fake accounts to amplify political content targeting candidates across the spectrum. It is a significant purge, though questions remain about what slipped through.
Meanwhile, even when infrastructure gets hit, disinformation finds a way. After Ukraine struck several of Yandex's major data centers, researchers at Cloudflare observed that malicious Russian bot traffic barely missed a beat, migrating almost immediately to alternative hosting providers. Overall Yandex traffic did drop to somewhere between ten and fifteen percent of normal, but the bots themselves kept moving.
And in space, patience continues to be required. Rocket Lab has pushed its Neutron rocket's first launch back to two thousand twenty seven, citing carbon composite manufacturing problems. That is now the third delay for a vehicle first announced more than five years ago, originally targeting two thousand twenty four. Neutron remains a promising heavy-lift contender, but promising and flying are very different things.
