You're locked into Sports Desk, let's get into it.
We start with a loss that hits the whole sport hard. Mike Ditka, Chicago Bears legend, Hall of Fame tight end, and the coach who led one of the most dominant teams in NFL history to a Super Bowl title, passed away Friday at the age of eighty-six. Iron Mike was a titan of the game, and the football world is mourning tonight.
Shifting to the gridiron, Washington gets a boost as Jayden Daniels is cleared to start Sunday against the Giants after missing time with an elbow injury. The young quarterback's return is a significant lift for the Commanders, though they'll be without wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who's sidelined with a hamstring injury and won't suit up for this one.
And over in cricket, what a performance out of Ranchi. West Indies star Shai Hope went absolutely nuclear, smashing an unbeaten one hundred and two off just forty-five balls, including nine sixes, to chase down two hundred and forty-nine and beat India by six wickets with nine balls to spare. The second highest successful run chase in T-twenty history, and Hope made it look almost comfortable.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
