Welcome to Markets Desk, where we break down what's moving and why.
The S&P five hundred is back in record territory, and you can thank the Magnificent Seven for the lift. The mega-cap tech cohort has been quietly reasserting itself, providing the momentum needed to push the broader index past prior highs despite persistent headwinds from elevated bond yields and crude oil prices that refuse to cooperate.
Shifting from equities to sovereign debt, the United Kingdom has named six banks to lead what would be its first digitally native government bond. The so-called DIGIT pilot will test distributed ledger technology and on-chain settlement for UK gilts, with issuance targeted by the first quarter of two thousand twenty seven. It is a meaningful signal that sovereign debt infrastructure is inching toward blockchain rails.
And in commodities, wheat is pushing sharply higher midday on Tuesday. Chicago soft red winter contracts are up seven to nine cents, while Kansas City hard red winter futures have gained twelve to thirteen cents in the front months. The catalyst is lagging planting progress, which is tightening near-term supply expectations and giving bulls enough cover to press the market higher.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
