Good afternoon and welcome to Markets Desk.
The S&P five hundred hit fresh all-time highs this session, climbing nearly nine-tenths of a percent to seven thousand eight hundred forty, with the Nasdaq and Dow both posting solid gains as well. Falling oil prices and renewed risk appetite are driving the broad advance, giving bulls another reason to feel comfortable heading into the week.
Leading the charge inside that rally are nuclear energy names, with Centrus stock among the standouts after the Department of Energy announced a four point two billion dollar loan to power company Vistra. That federal capital injection is being read as a strong signal of Washington's commitment to nuclear buildout, and traders moved quickly to price in the downstream beneficiaries across the uranium and enrichment space.
Stepping back from equities for a moment, income investors are facing a genuinely different calculus than they have in years. The ten-year Treasury note is now yielding around five point three percent, which means the old playbook of chasing dividend stocks simply for yield now has real competition from risk-free government paper. Retirees and portfolio managers alike are being forced to weigh that tradeoff carefully.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
