Travis Etienne is heading to injured reserve, and the Saints are suddenly thin in the backfield. New Orleans loses their starting running back for a minimum of four games, a significant blow to an offense that was already navigating a difficult stretch of the schedule. This one stings.
Shifting to the diamond, and Thursday night in Atlanta carries real weight. The Braves are turning to lefty Ray Kerr for his first career postseason start in a winner-take-all Game three against the Phillies. Kerr hasn't been here before, but neither moment nor Aaron Nola are going to wait for anyone to get comfortable.
And out in Anaheim, the Ducks are making a serious long-term bet on Tristan Luneau, locking up the young defenseman to a six-year extension worth forty-three point two million dollars. Fourteen NHL games into his career. Anaheim is clearly convinced they've found a cornerstone piece on the blue line, and they're not waiting around to prove it.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
