Number five Indiana escaped Evanston Friday night, but not without a scare. Starting running back Turbo Richard left the twenty-nine to twenty-three win over Northwestern with a right lower-leg injury in the first half and never came back. The Hoosiers got the W, but the health of their backfield is now a serious question mark heading deeper into the season.
Shifting to the diamond, Tarik Skubal was absolutely untouchable Friday night in San Francisco. The Dodgers ace held the Giants in check while Teoscar Hernandez and Andy Pages each went deep off Yunior Marte, and two solo shots were more than enough. Los Angeles walks out of Oracle Park with the win, and Skubal continues to make his case as the most dominant arm in the game right now.
And in Los Angeles, the Rams are bracing for Sunday Night Football against Denver without one of their most explosive weapons. Puka Nacua has been designated doubtful for the Broncos game, though Sean McVay says he does not expect the receiver's absence to last much longer. Still, missing Nacua on a prime time stage is far from ideal for a Rams offense built around his playmaking ability.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
