You're tuned in to Sports Desk, let's get right to it.
In New York, the Mets have lost first baseman Jared Young for the remainder of the season. The thirty-one-year-old suffered a concussion after colliding with pitcher Nolan McLean while fielding a ground ball Thursday night. Young is home resting, but his year is done, and the timing couldn't be worse for a Mets club fighting for position.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles, good news for the Dodgers. Outfielder Andy Pages is set to return Tuesday against San Diego after missing nearly a month with a fractured left hand. Pages went under the knife after taking a pitch off his hand back on August twenty-second against Pittsburgh. The Dodgers get a weapon back just as the calendar gets serious.
And over in St. Louis, the Cardinals are dealing with more roster pain. Rookie outfielder Joshua Báez has been shut down for the season with an oblique strain, ending what had been a promising first look at the young left fielder. He was pulled early from Wednesday's game in San Francisco, and now the Cardinals close out their year without him.
