Dante Moore looked every bit the part of a Heisman contender Saturday night, throwing for three hundred eighty eight yards and three touchdowns as number two Oregon gutted out a thirty four to twenty seven win over a Boise State squad that refused to go quietly. The Ducks survived a slow start, and that's the kind of character test that matters in September.
Over in Atlanta, Auburn walked away from its opener with a win and, more importantly, with its roster mostly intact. The Tigers edged Baylor seventeen to sixteen in a game that had injury stoppages piling up, but head coach Alex Golesh came out postgame calm and collected, saying the team will be a little banged up but nothing serious heading into week two. Undefeated feels good no matter how you get there.
And shifting to the hardwood, Derrick Rose is speaking up about the Knicks' championship run, telling Sports Illustrated he had New York winning the whole time. Rose said his son is a Jalen Brunson fan, and that he called Rick Brunson personally before the Finals to tell him the Knicks were going all the way. Turns out he was right.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
