Commodity markets took a broad hit Wednesday, with crude oil tumbling more than six dollars a barrel after reports that the United States and Iran are closing in on a memorandum of understanding. That crude selloff rippled hard through corn, which dropped ten and a half to nearly thirteen cents across most contracts, dragging the national cash corn average down to four dollars and twenty-six cents. Cotton and wheat also closed lower, though both pulled off their worst levels into the session's end.
Staying in the commodity complex, wheat felt the pressure across all three markets, with Chicago soft red winter leading losses of nearly eleven cents at the worst point before buyers stepped in late. Kansas City hard red winter managed to limit damage to just one to three cents by the close, a sign that some traders see value emerging even as the broader tape remains defensive.
Shifting to tech, Arm Holdings gave investors something to cheer about, with shares surging after the chip designer revealed more than two billion dollars in customer demand for its first-ever data center CPU. That is a meaningful signal that Arm is moving aggressively beyond mobile into the high-margin server market, a space currently dominated by established players who now have serious competition knocking.
