You're tuned in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
In St. Louis Cardinals territory, Thomas Saggese delivered when it mattered most — a two-strike infield single in the tenth inning gave the Cardinals their first lead of the night, and they held on to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers eight to six. Nathan Church set the table, and Saggese punched it home against Brock Stewart, who drops to zero and two on the year. St. Louis grinding out wins on the road in October baseball's biggest market — that's a statement.
Meanwhile up in the Bronx, Austin Wells had himself a night. The Yankees catcher went two for two with a two-run go-ahead single that ignited a five-run tenth inning, sending New York past the Los Angeles Angels six to three. Wells doing his best work late, keeping the Yankees rolling when they needed it most.
And out in Detroit, Spencer Torkelson finally got his moment. The Tigers first baseman crushed a two-run homer as part of a five-run twelfth inning, lifting Detroit over Minnesota eleven to six. The Twins had every chance to put this one away — Torkelson made sure they didn't.
