In the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings are adding some veteran muscle to their defensive front. Thirteen-year outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy, thirty-five years old and carrying fifty-seven career sacks, agreed to terms with Minnesota on Tuesday night. The Vikings needed depth and experience at the edge, and Van Noy delivers exactly that.
Meanwhile in baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals erupted for five home runs and a thirteen to eight shellacking of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles Tuesday night. Thomas Saggese went yard twice, Jordan Walker added a two-run shot, and Ramón Urías and Joshua Báez also connected. The Cardinals had dropped seven of nine and been outscored badly during that stretch, but the bats woke up in a big way.
And out of Colorado, the Rockies finally snapped a franchise-record ten-game home losing streak, beating Baltimore four to two in Denver. TJ Rumfield broke a seventh-inning tie with a home run, giving Colorado something to actually celebrate at Coors Field for the first time in far too long. Sometimes all a struggling ballclub needs is one swing to breathe again.
