Meanwhile in Denver, Colton Cowser pulled off one of the plays of the season. The Baltimore outfielder went airborne above the center-field fence at Coors Field, robbing Jake McCarthy of a walk-off homer and preserving a two-to-one Orioles win over the Rockies. Cade Povich gave Baltimore five solid innings, Cowser drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh, and then he went and saved the whole thing with his glove. That's a complete ballgame right there.
And in Boston, Trevor Story came through when it mattered most. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth, Story singled home the winning run, lifting the Red Sox over the Seattle Mariners nine to eight in a back-and-forth thriller that went the distance and then some.
