Minnesota is making moves, sending Josh Green and cash to Utah in exchange for Cody Williams and John Konchar. Green had been a reliable three-and-D piece for the Wolves, but Minnesota is clearly reshaping its roster construction heading into the new season, and Utah adds another wing to its rebuild.
Shifting to the NFL, Odell Beckham Junior is turning heads in New York — again. The veteran wideout hauled in three catches for fifty-three yards in the Giants' preseason finale Friday, and head coach John Harbaugh came out swinging afterward, saying Beckham has done enough to earn a spot on an NFL roster. At this stage of his career, every snap is an audition, and Friday looked like a strong closing argument.
And in Philadelphia, what a way to finish a ballgame. Phillies pinch hitter Edmundo Sosa stepped in with two outs in the top of the ninth, bases loaded, and crushed a go-ahead grand slam to lift Philadelphia past the Angels five to three. That is the kind of swing that changes the entire complexion of a pennant race, and the Phillies needed every bit of it.
